WE’RE SURE ABOUT THIS.

Ms. Pink is a quick paced 30 min live-action graphic novel filled with drama and quirky comedy. It is set in present-day New York.  The distinction is made between Ms. Pink’s mundane life: less colored, over-crowded New York spaces such as her apartment and the bodega where she works, and the life she leads as she attempts to become a member of the secret ban of female assassins. This world is hyper colorful with large spaces and such as the night clubs and the home of The Leader.

It is inspired by films such as Kill Bill, Reservoir Dogs and the animation style of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish with the painterly images and dropping the FPS to emphasize the punch in action as opposed to the fluidity of the frame.

Although this last point was only hinted at and not created in our pilot, with the proper team and budget creating the “kill” scenes of Ms. Pink in a live-action quick graphic novel style is the ultimate goal.

Ms. Pink is a female driven, action packed plot that highlights diversity in all forms, from race and sexual orientation to ageism. The world needs more women, including aging women, in positions of power. This project takes her place in the cult genre of action film that is typically reserved for the boys This boys' club needs a female touch.

THE SYNOPSIS

Ms. Pink follows the journey of a single mother as she navigates motherhood while working towards being inducted into an ancient ban of female assassins, THE SEMPER FORTIS (Latin for always brave).  This 15- minute proof of concept is designed to introduce the viewer to the world we have created and the characters who live in it.  Through quick editing and over stylized set dressings and lighting we have created two worlds: that of the routine- the mundane and the world of a graphic novel: a-la- Kill-Bill. Those identifying as woman are placed in positions of power and the concept of power is explored – raising children is powerful, holding a job is powerful…. Eliminating evil is powerful.

In the pilot we see the two lives of MS. PINK: Raising her children and working at her monotonous bodega job, but we are also privy to view the assassin in training.  We follow her into the underbelly where she is given an ancient coin baring the symbol of The Semper Fortis and their motto “Good to the end”.  Once our 1st target is located, he is executed.   After being presented with a second ancient coin, we understand that another evil doer will meet their end.   After school drop-off, Ms. Pink is ushered into a baby blue vintage jaguar where she is given a pink box containing 3 passports and a golden rod stamped with the same ancient symbol seen on the ancient coins and on other items throughout the film. She is brought to THE LEADER of the assassins. Her ceremony is held.  She palaces her rod on a scale to match the weight of a gold bar.   The coins are slipped onto this rod and not only do they equal the weight of the bar… they surpass it.  Ms. Pink is welcomed into the group. But is this woman who is trying to keep things together at home able to live up to the expectations of The Leader? How will she live this double life?

Throughout the series we watch Ms. Pink as she receives missions and finds her footing within this secret society of assassins all while navigating motherhood.  Ultimately The Leader is looking for a replacement, things in The Semper Fortis have become stale and the assassins seem to be out for their own benefit and straying from their mission of “Good to the end”.  Ms. Pink does not fit the mold, nor does she want to.  There are confrontations with other assassins in the group who see her as a threat but maybe it’s just what they need.

Ms. Pink places those who identify as woman in places of power.  Our female protagonist experiences the daily struggles as many mothers do, raising children, keeping a job and dealing with an ex-husband. She makes the choice to lead a double life and kill for the better good. The Leader of the assassins is female identifying and having lived over the years seeing the struggle of the underdogs, she assembled her team to bring justice to those who struggle.  Together these people will fight for what is right.
